On Oct 31, we had a nice day in Benton County WA.
Birds seen included:
1 adult male Purple Finch Bateman Island feeder
25 Gray-crowned Rosy Finch Weber Canyon
1 Pacific Loon Columbia Park
1 Harris' Sparrow Bateman Island
1 Osprey (late) Horned Rapids
1 Merlin Benton City
13 Gray Partridge Weber Canyon
The Purple Finch is rare, code 4, but not total unexpected.
Most seem to be seen this time of year.
Personally, I think they wander up the Columbia River like
so many other birds.
The Pacific Loon is probably rarer, just easier to spot.
Rosy Finches weren't around last winter.
I'm getting optimistic about an invasion of northern birds!
Good Birding,
Craig
