Birds are moving through the interior. Yesterday making the rounds I
saw an immature Sabine's Gull on Long Lake, south of Potholes
Reservoir. Also a couple of Red-necked Grebes on Royal Slough,
between Royal City and Othello on Columbia NWR. The saline wetland
along Highway 26 had several Baird's and single Pectoral and Stilt
Sndpipers as well as the abundant Western and some Least. There were
still American Avocets at the ponds along McManamon Road just NW of
Othello, and lots of peeps, but I didn't have time to stop. Shorebird
numbers overall seem to be higher than two weeks ago, but the
Black-necked Stilts and Wilson's Phalaropes may be gone already. Hot
