A hello to all Birders,
I was fortune to meet called '' Smitty'' in 1990.I won this birding trip
from the Audubon, and we stayed at the experimental station in Elgen. We
meet Smitty at the Sheelite Canyon, and he led us direct to the Spotted
Owl, no tapes was necessary to find the Owl.''Smitty know at all times the
move of this particular bird. Than in 1990 he led Birdes out of town every
day, and he went out of his way to lead you there. I will never forgot this
man, and much later i found out how many birders knew him.We put 78 new
species on our list, but meeting ''Smitty was the highlight of our trip for
me. Thank you so verry much to let us know about his passen on. There
should be a tribute to this man in ABA Birding.
