I am looking for info on the success rates on relocating a red-tailed hawk
nest.
I am currently working on a project involving the proposal for a park in an
area where a red-tailed hawk is known to have nested at least over the past
few years.
After investigating the current protection policies it does seem that a
bird nest (in Washington) of a species that is known to reuse the same nest
year after year is protected (of course there does seem to be a bit of a
grey area with this interpretation - the local WADFW makes the decision- so
it might vary with local offices).
HOWEVER there is still talk about the possibility to relocating the birds-
does anyone have any info about this? I have found stuff regrading the
success of artificial nest sites BUT not about relocation a current nest.
Any info would be helpful.
thanks to all
