Subject: ESS Earth Day postage stamp campaign

Hi All,

I'm forwarding this message from Peter Drekmeier <pdrekmeier at earthday.net>.
*We* may be saving the Earth with our forks, but I think anything that
increases general awareness of environmental issues is going to help!

Karen

Dear Friend:

The U.S. Postal Service is now inviting citizens to vote on stamps that
best represent the 1970s. Earth Day (first observed in 1970) is one of 30
choices.

Please help make this stamp a reality and spread environmental awareness by
taking a minute to vote. Remember, it's your right! Voting is allowed up
until September 30, 1998, but please vote soon to ensure your voice is
heard.

Here's how you can help out:

1) Vote online by following the instructions at
http://stampvote.msn.com/usps/usps.asp. Earth Day is under the catagory
"People and Events."
2) Stop by a local post office and pick up a bunch of ballots to distribute
to friends who don't have access to the internet.
3) Forward this message to your friends and co-workers.

Thanks for helping put Earth Day on envelopes throughout the world.

P.S. The Earth Day Network has begun plans for Earth Day 2000, an
international campaign headed by Denis Hayes, the national coordinator of
the first Earth Day and the CEO of Earth Day 1990. If you would like to
receive updates about Earth Day 2000, please send a request to
earthday at earthday.net.
