Birders,
Two adult male BLACK SCOTERS were in Richland Washington 9/4/98.
Bob Woodley found them at the Yakima River Delta.
Unfortunately, before we got there, a hot dogging Sheriff's Patrol boat
chased away all the waterfowl.
After two hours, we relocated them on the Pasco side of the Columbia River.
(Franklin County 1st?)
They were visible from the north end of Columbia Park near an island.
We waited two hours until a jet skier made them fly back into Benton County
for that all important list.
First time I've ever had good thoughts for a jet skier!!!
Last seen about 6 pm in the river just downstream from Bateman Island.

Bob also found a Black Scoter there last year for Benton's first.
On Aug 31st two White-winged Scoters were in the same place. Early scoter
sightings!

Good Birding,
Craig
