Tweets,
A good assortment of birds this morning at Dumas Bay in South King County.
The best birds were 2 Franklin's Gulls, and 1 Semipalmated Plover. Bird
numbers seem to be increasing however as a large group of Common Terns
were on the beach (55-70) and the first concentrations I had seen of
American Wigeons this fall (at least 200), along with a nice group of
Horned Grebes(about 10) were there as well. There were approximately 50-60
Western Sandpipers and the gull count was between 175-200, with Mew,
Glacous-winged, Bonaparte, Franklin's and one Heermann's (first year).
This also seems to be the day of the Killdeer as I had an estimated 35-40
at Dumas Bay, 6 at Clay St. Marsh (where I had another Semipalmated
Plover, 10 Westerns, 1 Lesser Yellowlegs, 4 Pipits and a Bank Swallow) and
11 at the Montlake Fill.
