Birders, Despite strange things in the sky we tried unsuccessfully to
relocate
the Hutton's Vireo seen 9/5 at the Patterson unit on the Umatilla NWR in
southern Benton County WA. No Vireos at all & only one warbler,
Yellow-rumped.
No kinglets either. BANK SWALLOWS are evidently gone.
A flock of COMMON TERNS saved the day. There were 11 small terns sitting on
rocks;
at least 6 Common; at least 2 Forster's. No Arctic.
There were 2 immature SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS. No they didn't call today,
but one did call there two days ago. Also 8 Long-billed Dowitchers.
The first HORNED GREBE of the season was there 9/5.
It actually rained a little!! First rain since 7/31. 20 degrees cooler was
nice!

Good Birding,
Craig
