Subject: Summer turkey vulture report
Date: Sep 09 09:44:20 1998
From: Diann MacRae - tvulture at halcyon.com

Dear Tweets,

This will be a hodge-podge of turkey vulture reports since I was gone the
month of August. This listing does not include anything that may have been
posted to Tweeters since I was "unsubscribed" during that time, only
reports sent directly to me.

July through early September, 1998

12 July - 6 over I-90 at Easton, 2 more east of Easton
26 July - 2 near Elma, 2 near Tokeland
31 July - 2 individuals west of Port Angeles on SR112
01 Aug - 6 on SR20 east of Sedro Wooley (probable immatures)
13 Aug - 1 in Aberdeen
15 Aug - 7 at Sauvie Island (Oregon), 1 at Aberdeen, 2 at LaConner
23 Aug - 3 at Brim Road, Cowlitz County (2 were adults), 1 at Tenino, 6
near Yelm
01 Sep - 1 at Lantzville, B.C.
04 Sep - 1 at Elk Lake, B.C.
07 Sep - 1 at Stanwood

Thanks to all who sent in sightings. Soon, turkey vulture numbers should
rise significantly and the northern migrants will begin passing by. Watch
for small to large kettles of vultures even over Seattle; the majority of
the birds north of us seem to be heading directly down the Puget Trough to
points south.

Best regards,
Diann MacRae, Coordinator
