Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday September 10. If you have anything to add
call Harry Nehls at 233-3976.

On September 4 a winter plumaged adult LITTLE GULL was observed among a
flock of Bonaparte's Gulls at the Summer Lake Wildlife Area. It was
relocated September 9 still with Bonaparte's Gulls.

An immature BLACKPOLL WARBLER was banded at Malheur NWR Headquarters
September 8.

A SABINE'S GULL was in the Summer Lake Wildlife Area September 4; two
were at the Prineville Sewage Ponds September 5; and one was at Dexter
Reservoir SE of Eugene September 9.

A SABINE'S GULL was at Cape Blanco on the southern Oregon coast September
3. Two LARK SPARROWS were seen near Cape Blanco September 7. A flock of
33 ELEGANT TERNS were at the mouth of the Rogue River at Gold beach
September 7. A female YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was on the North Spit of
Coos Bay September 5.

SOOTY SHEARWATERS are still streaming past the South Jetty of the
Columbia River. The first KITTIWAKES of the season appeared there
September 6. A VESPER SPARROW was there that day, and a LARK SPARROW was
there September 7.

PIPITS are now showing up in numbers in many areas. Shorebirding during
the week was slow, but the fall movement of land and water birds are now
picking up. The first HORNED GREBE of the season was at the Fernhill
Wetlands September 5. A possible flock of 25 IBIS was reported from Fern
Ridge Reservoir September 5. A FLAMMULATED OWL was at the Bonney Butte
Hawkwatch Station in Hood River County September 7.

A HUTTON'S VIREO was observed September 5 on the Umatilla NWR on the
Washington side of the Columbia River.

Thats it for this week.
