This summer in SE Arizona (6/22-7/9) I saw and heard many HUTTON'S
VIREOS. I didn't see sonograms of any of the calling individuals I
observed, but I did notice one thing in particular about their songs, and
I mentioned it to a couple of people (I don't remember whom.), THEIR SONG
SEEMED TO BE SUNG BACKWARDS (upside down?) also. The typical upward
swinging "zu-weeep" that I have learned in W. Oregon was not the song I
heard in Arizona. The HUVI in AZ gave a song with a definite descending
pitch with the syllables (is that what they are called in "sonolang")
seemingly sung in reverse order. The birds calling also appeared to be
adult birds. It was different! Could the bird Mr. Hunn recorded possibly
be a dispersed bird from another geographical location?

I have forwarded a copy of this message to Mr. Hunn.
