Just a note on a flock of Bonaparte's Gulls on the West side of Camano
Island over Labor Day weekend. We were sitting watching the sunset over
Saratoga Passage when a flock of about 20 BGs showed up. They were fly
catching, literally. We watched until the sun dropped behind the Olympics
as their whirled and shot this way and that, snagging large insects in mid
air. Is this standard behavior?
