Birders,
I got a message that a MAGNOLIA WARBLER was banded
by refuge personnel at the nearby Cold Springs NWR, Hermiston OR.
I've yet to find out exactly where, but we tried anyway after work.
Did not locate it, but there were 1,000s of shorebirds.
We only covered part of them & recorded:
7 SANDERLING
4 SEMI-PALMATED PLOVERS
1 PECTORAL SANDPIPER
1 juvenile SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER (later heard it too)
1 SOLITARY SANDPIPER
40 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS
50 COMMON SNIPE (a flock, probably the most I've ever seen there)
100's of WESTERN SANDPIPERS
30+ LEAST SANDPIPERS
over 20 YELLOWLEGS (both types)

As the sun was about set, 30 Western Sandpipers started calling loudly
& started flying south. I'm sure I heard them say "Let's go! Let's go!

Good Birding,
Craig
