On Sunday 9/6 my girlfriend's father saw 2 White-headed woodpeckers on
his property on Black Lake near Olympia. He has just started birding but
is very meticulous in his ID's and he described the birds well to me
including the white head, red spot on the back of one of the bird's
head, size, black backs and white wing patches. He said he is 99.9% sure
that is what they were. The problem is that he didn't know they were
unusual for this area and just told me about it yesterday. I told him if
he sees them again to try to get a photo and call the RBA.

So, here's my question to Tweeter's: How many times have White-headed
Woodpeckers been seen west of the cascades and/or Thurston Co.?
