I also visited Mann Lake on September 10 (1130 to 1645) and I didn't
see the Red Phalarope. There were seven Red-necked Phalaropes.
I also noted the American White Pelican, the 4 American
Golden-Plovers, the Franklin's and Bonaparte's Gulls. I would also add a
Common Snipe feeding along the edge of the lake, two SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS
and a dowitcher I think was a LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER. The American Pipits
were also still there.
I noticed that there were ducks than the last time I was there
(August 30). In particular, I noted two BLUE-WINGED TEAL (eclipse plumage),
including one that was chased by the American Golden-Plover. Other
waterfowl included American Wigeon (some of them in alternate plumage,
finally out of eclipse), Northern Pintails, Green-winged Teal, Ruddy Ducks,
Mallards, Redheads, all still in eclipse plumage. There was also two
Western Grebes and a Pied-billed Grebe that still had faint stripes on the
neck and head.
