GGOW are "common" around McCall, but not always easy to find. You
can find them from McCall east up into the high country, and between
US 95 and ID 55 from Council / Smith's Ferry north to McCall and
probably up to the Salmon. Bear Basin, just north of McCall, is
described in the Birders' Guide to Idaho, in particular for GGOW. A
breeding pair was right off ID 55 near Donnelly this spring.

The other state stronghold is SE Idaho, particularly as you approach
Yellowstone and the Tetons. The area in SE Idaho near Driggs is an
easy place to find wintering birds...
