Under the instigation of Robert Ashbaugh, several of us from the first
Seattle Audubon Master Birders class went on an impromptu field trip to the
Fort Lewis area on 9 April 1988. We observed a male White-headed
Woodpecker on the Weir Prairie, in Ponderosa pines. This is also in
Thurston County.
