On September 2, Craig Corder and Judy Stevens relocated the LEWIS'
WOODPECKER on Bateman Island and saw a RED-NECKED GREBE off the north end
of the island.

On September 3, I (Bob Woodley) observed 2 immature BLACK TERNS off the
lower end of Nelson Island (Groves Park, Richland), and later that day,
Nancy LaFramboise and I saw 3 COMMON LOONS there, one of which was calling.

Also on that day and subsequent days, there have been up to 7 GREAT EGRETS
on the Yakima Delta and shorebirds including SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, KILLDEER,
both YELLOWLEGS, SPOTTED, WESTERN, LEAST, BAIRD'S, and PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS, LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, COMMON SNIPE and RED-NECK PHALAROPES. (BW)

Bob Derding reported WILD (?) TURKEYS in Columbia Park (Kennewick) on
September 4 but the source of these birds is unknown.

Also on September 4, in Groves Park, there were 3 GREAT HORNED OWLS near
the horseshoe pit and a WESTERN TANAGER and LINCOLN'S SPARROW elsewhere in
the park (BW).

While on the Yakima Delta on September 4, among the other more common ducks
were 7 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 2 male BLACK SCOTERS, and 6 RUDDY DUCKS. (BW)

The following day, Groves Park again yielded 2 immature BLACK TERNS and a
SPOTTED TOWHEE among other things. (BW)

On the Walla Walla Delta on September 6, Andy Stepniewski found among the
shorebirds, a SOLITARY SANDPIPER, 3 STILT SANDPIPERS and a SHORT-BILLED
DOWITCHER. While on McNary Pool he saw 1200 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE.

On September 7, there were 2 HORNED GREBES below Nelson Island and a
FRANKLIN'S GULL on the Yakima Delta. While on September 8, an OSPREY
occupied the nesting platform across the Columbia River from Howard Amon
Park (Richland) and 6 EARED GREBES were on the river below. (BW)

A FRANKLIN'S GULL was on the upper end of Nelson Island on September 9. (BW)
