On 9/22/98 I counted lll Harlequin Ducks at the mouth of Sequim Bay. All
were still in eclipse plumage. On 9/l5 there were 32 and on 9/2 only 7.
On 9/22 there were l7 Surf Scoters and l0 White-winged Scoters so the
divers are arriving here. Also seen on 9/22 there were 2l Common Loon
and l Red-throated Loon scattered over the mouth of the Bay. 2 Horned
Grebe and 2 Red-necked Grebe plus 2 Marbled Murrelet so the the Fall and
wintering birds are beginning to arrive. Still censusing this area
weekly throughout the year. Keeps a broken down USFWS Wildlife biologist
and administrator from chasing cars. Woof, woof.
