This notice was sent to me via the GREEN (Global River Environmental Education
Network). Thought some of you may be interested in tuning in, and some of you
may just want to be aware of how middle school science is using internet
technology these days.

TU Aids "Electronic Ecology Field Trip"

With support from National TU and in conjunction with the University of
Minnesota's Bell Museum of Natural History, TU's
Twin Cities Chapter is assisting in the production of an electronic field
trip on trout stream ecology.

On October 22, three separate satellite broadcasts will be made to
subscribing school districts around the country from the banks of a
Minneapolis/St. Paul-area trout stream.

The 60-minute broadcasts, designed for grades 4-8, will occur at 9 a.m., 11
a.m., and 1:30 p.m. CST. Each broadcast will follow the same curriculum and
allow participating students to call in with questions.

In addition to providing funding support, members of the Twin Cities
Chapter reviewed the curriculum and will be on hand to demonstrate a
variety of watershed and ecological principles.

Subjects to be covered include: life cycles of brook, brown and rainbow
trout; aquatic insects; water quality and watershed management; and
recreational fishing.

Minnesota school districts can access the broadcast for free. There's a
$200 fee for non-Minnesota schools. For information and reservations, call
(800) 923-5548, or e-mail blive at tc.umn.edu.
