September 23, 1998, Wednesday, 9:40 p.m. Hi, this is Ed Deal at (206)
723-4742. Today, off Point Wilson lighthouse near Port Townsend, there
were 2 PARASITIC JAEGERS, 4 ANCIENT MURRELETS, 1 MARBLED MURRELET and 2
SOOTY SHEARWATERS amidst a huge flock of feeding gulls of mixed species.
And also good numbers of ALCIDS, LOONS, GREBES and SURF SCOTERS and
HARLEQUIN DUCKS. Good luck and good birding.

September 24, 1998, Thursday, 12:11 p.m. Hi, this is Tom Aversa (206)
782-7342. Another report from Montlake Fill today, Thursday. A SCRUB
JAY right at the main pond. It moved off a little bit to the north, but
it went down into a thicket. It might be sticking around, I don't know.
Also, a really beautiful black MERLIN has been there since Tuesday. At
least it's a real nice looking bird. Also had a TURKEY VULTURE and a
WESTERN TANAGER there today. And to elaborate on the report from
Tuesday that SPIZELLA, after looking at some books, I would say
definitely BREWER'S SPARROW. Kevin Aanerud saw the bird out there that
afternoon. He agreed it was a BREWER'S. I didn't have any luck finding
it today, but they were mowing and the howling wind out of the south
didn't help either. Good luck if you go over there.

September 25, 1998, Friday, 9:00 a.m. Hi, this is Alan Knue at (206)
706-2550. Yesterday Wendy Walker and I relocated the NORTHERN
MOCKINGBIRD at Discovery Park. If you park at the south parking lot and
head towards the south bluff, look over towards the dead-topped Pacific
dogwood. There are a number of hawthorn and elderberry bushes and the
MOCKINGBIRD was moving between several of those bushes in the afternoon
around 5:00 o'clock. That's all. Thanks.

September 25, 1989, Friday, 1:35 p.m. Hi, this is Alan Knue at (206)
706-2550. Once again the NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD at Discovery Park is
located by going west from the south parking area along the gravel trail
towards the south bluff. Eventually you will hit a paved service road
that is also the bike loop and if you follow that as it goes northwest,
it will eventually fork and a gravel trail will go off again towards the
south bluff going west. And if you look north, there is a dead-topped
Pacific dogwood and around it are several hawthorns and elderberries.
And the NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD has been hanging out in that area. Good
luck. Bye.
