Hi Ruth and Tweets, I saw a couple of small groups (2-4 birds) of Varied
Thrushes on the wooded hillside a block from my house in Bothell, on
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. Each time, they were either
mixed with robins, or they were feeding on Mountain Ash. The first date
I had for one in my yard was last year (when I still lived in Shoreline)
I saw a single male feeding in a mountain ash on October 3, the first
Juncos showed up in my yard the same day. He was caught by a large
sharpie or small Coopers hawk on October 18, and I didn't have any more
until the first week of November.
