Banding Report for Ft Stevens Banding Station
Ft Stevens St Pk, Clatsop Co. OR

27 Sep 1998

Method: Up to six 9m mist nets are placed in perpendicular
sets in willow wetland habitat near the South Jetty of the
Columbia River. Captured birds are measured, ringed with
USBBL numbered metal bands and released. Data on time of
capture and side of net captured are also recorded to gain
an understanding of movements through the area.

Notes: Saturday (9/26) had all the right conditions for a
migrant fallout: clear skies after several days of unsettled
weather, waxing moon, almost no wind. Good numbers of VARIED
THRUSHES could be heard moving through the station, though
none were caught. HERMIT THRUSHES, GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW
and RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS suggest that the down slope
migration is well under way. Both FOX SPARROWS were most
probably _fulginosa_ based on their meassurements (see appended.)
