Hi Tweets,

Today we took a drive towards Buffalo Lake. The first bird of the day
was a BALD EAGLE. While scoping the lake we saw some COMMON LOONS and
scared six GRAY PARTRIDGE out of the tall grass. Large flocks of
Starlings line the power lines.
>From Buffalo Lake we went down the hill past Rebecca Lake. We stopped
along the way and saw a RED-NAPED SAP SUCKER , a DOWNY WOODPECKER and a
possible PEREGRINE FALCON. A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE took us off guard.
It has been a while since we have seen one and it took us a minute to ID
it. Just past Rebecca Lake, there were WHITE CROWNED SPARROWS and one
ORANGE CROWNED WARBLER working in the bushes. It was a beautiful day
here (77degrees).

Some other highlights of the week were:
Thursday on the Almira road our first NORTHERN SHRIKE of the season.

Friday by the boat launch across from the Northrup Canyon entrance in a
grove of Russian Olive trees (about 40 feet square) we saw ten species.
American Robin, Great Blue Heron, Ruby Crowned Kinglet, White Crowned
Sparrow,
Northern Flicker, Black-billed Magpie, Yellow Rumped Warbler, Dark-eyed
Junco, California Quail and one Cedar Waxwing

Enjoying the great weather.
