A couple of years ago, I saw a Pileated in Farrell McWhirter Park in
Redmond (just off Novelty Hill Road near Avondale Road). It could be worth
a visit as there are signs in the trees that some substantial holes have
been excavated suggesting it/they are resident there. There's a path that
runs up the hill (under the powerlines if memory serves me) east from the
horse corral parking area (accessed via the 196th Ave entrance -- check
Thomas Guide). I saw the birds off the south side of the path (right side
going up the hill).

Also . . . . I live in Kirkland in the Kingsgate area north of Evergreen
Hospital. I've heard Pileateds in the neighborhood from time to time but
have yet to spot one. There are flickers around too, but I'm pretty sure I
can tell the difference in their calls. Good birding!
