September 25, 1998, Friday, 5:04 p.m. Hello, this is Craig Kemper,
(206) 789-9255, reporting for Friday, September 25. While at Discovery
Park this afternoon, I was unable to relocate the NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD.
But at 2:30, did observe 3 SANDHILL CRANES flying south paralleling the
south bluff. Thank you.

September 25, 1998, Friday, 5:20 p.m. Hello, this is Scott Atkinson.
I'm just getting off the 5:10 ferry from Winslow to Seattle. Matt Wood
and I had an adult SABINE'S GULL on the Seattle side of the run here
just moments ago. That's all.

September 25, 1998, Friday, 9:55 p.m. Paul Hicks here (360) 264-2462.
Friday, September 25, reporting for the Mud Bay area after high tide in
the morning. I finally found the LESSER YELLOWLEGS. At least 1,
perhaps as many as 4 SPOTTED SANDPIPER. Didn't find the WILLET today at
Perry Creek. No FRANKLIN'S GULL this week that I could find. That's
it.

September 26, 1998, Saturday, 2:19 p.m. Hi, this is Rick Romea. Just
reporting that the NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen again at Discovery Park
in the same place as previously described at noon today. Thank you.

September 26, 1998, Saturday, 8:21 p.m. Hi, this is Steven Mlodinow.
Today Dennis Duffey, Casey Beachel and I went to the Skagit Game Range
in the morning, Whidbey Island in the afternoon. The highlight of the
day was definitely a SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER juvenile at the northeastern
corner of Crockett Lake with approximately 14 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS.
There was also a GOLDEN PLOVER present, most likely a PACIFIC. 4
PARASITIC JAEGERS were on the Keystone to Port Townsend ferry towards
the Port Townsend side. And an ANCIENT MURRELET was at Swantown with
approximately 800 to 1,000 COMMON MURRES. Well, I wasn't really with
them but there at the same time. That's about it. Good luck and good
birding.

September 27, 1998, Sunday, 9:45 a.m. Hello, this is Scott Atkinson. A
quick report for Skagit County for yesterday, 26 September. Nothing
real earth-shaking, but I did have a couple PECTORAL SANDPIPERS and a
late BLUE-WINGED TEAL along Mann Road, just east of the Game Range.
There was a major movement of SAVANNAH SPARROWS evident across Fir
Island. I had up to 200 birds at various points. I had my first drake
EURASIAN WIGEON off the north fork access to the Skagit Game Range. And
this morning, I've still got WESTERN TANAGER and SWAINSON'S THRUSH here
in Lake Stevens. That's all.

September 27, 1998, Sunday, 10:06 a.m. Hello, this is Craig Kemper,
reporting for Sunday, September 26th. At 9:10 a.m., I relocated the
NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD at Discovery Park. Thank you.

September 27, 1998, Sunday, 12:47 p.m. Hi, this is Steven Mlodinow.
Today at the Everett Sewage ponds there was 8 FRANKLIN'S GULLS,
somewhere between 500-1,000 BONAPARTE'S GULLS and 3 EARED GREBES.
That's it. Good luck and good birding.

September 27, 1998, Sunday, 1:21 p.m. Hi, this Alan Knue at (206)
706-2550. This morning at Discovery Park, I had the NORTHERN
MOCKINGBIRD at its usual location. A NORTHERN SHRIKE nearby and at
least 3 PARASITIC JAEGERS at the point. That's all. Good birding.
Bye.

September 27, 1998, Sunday, 1:45 p.m. Hi, this is Steven Mlodinow.
Just had a MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE in my backyard in Everett. Also, Dennis
Duffey earlier today had 2 SOOTY SHEARWATERS off Edmonds. One begins to
wonder if these are the same birds that were at Swantown last week and
perhaps at Point Wilson in the interim. Also, Kevin Aanerud had a BROWN
PELICAN and ROCK WREN at Discovery Park. I believe the ROCK WREN was at
Discovery Park yesterday. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

September 27, 1998, Sunday, 11:39 p.m. Jan Bragg (206) 524-3460. There
was a LAPLAND LONGSPUR feeding alone this evening at Magnusson Park
about 6:45 p.m.

September 28, 1998, Monday, 9:28 a.m. Hi, this Larry Goldstein at (360)
754-1205, reporting on the Ocean Shores to Tokeland run on Saturday the
26th. Ocean Shores was fairly quiet, perhaps due to low tide. The
highlights included off the jetty 12 to 15 PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATERS, 1
BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE. On the jetty was 1 WANDERING TATTLER and 6
BLACK TURNSTONES. At Bottle Beach, I was joined by Greg and Tammy
Pelletier where we observed approximately 500 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, 1
PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER and roughly 300 LEAST and WESTERN SANDPIPERS. At
Tokeland, on the spit, we found 60 LONG-BILLED CURLEW, 14 CASPIAN TERNS,
1 ARCTIC TERN at rest, 20 BROWN PELICANS, 9 WHIMBREL. And at the dock,
we counted 236 MARBLED GODWITS, 1 BAR-TAILED GODWIT and 8 WILLETS. Good
luck and good birding.
