Hello again Tweets,
Wanted also to quickly mention the large numbers of COMMON LOONS and BELTED
KINGFISHERS that I saw while spending the weekend at our cabin on Case Inlet
in the south sound area (off east shoreline of Harstene Island).
Immediately off our cabin were as many as 14 COMMON LOONS virtually round
the clock all weekend, with two males still in full summer attire. The
BELTED KINGFISHER nest in the bank next to our property was actively being
visited by both male and female birds, and I also spotted another three of
them up the beach about 1/2 mile north of our place.
Also saw tons of HORNED GREBES, RED-NECKED GREBES, SURF SCOTERS, KILLDEER,
and either three or four seals. Had a splendid BALD EAGLE flyby as well.
Cheers,
Alan Bauer
