What a day today, eh? We never wanted to leave Marymoor this morning (In fact, Mike West and I stayed until nearly noon). Earlier,
I was joined by Brian Bell and Kathy Hornbein(?).

I saw coyote twice. The first at about 7:15, was running across the grass soccer fields, the interpretive trail parking lot, and
into the east meadow. Mike West and I saw a second coyote around 11:00 hunting in the fields west of the slough.

Birds were also plentiful. We had over 50 species, with the following highlights.

Green Heron Gorgeous adult, on west side of slough, north of the rowing club
Northern Pintail Flying over boardwalk area. Very uncommon for Marymoor
Canvasback Two on the lake
Ring-necked Duck Nice male at the Rowing Club
Bald Eagle Adult on nest, immature over slough/mansion
Sharp-shinned Hawk Chasing starlings near the Rowing Club
Cooper's Hawk Over boardwalk
Virginia Rail Very vocal at boardwalk and Rowing Club
Common Snipe One below weir
Rufous Hummingbird Pretty male feeding at Salmonberry blossoms NE of boardwalk
Downy Woodpecker Very active, lots of drumming
Northern Shrike Pristine adult in east meadow
Tree Swallow Many along the slough. Only a few Violet-greens
Yellow-rumped Warbler Scruffy-looking male Myrtle's
Savannah Sparrow Finally back in some numbers. Saw 8-10, and heard at least 1
Fox Sparrow Still present and singing
White-crowned Sparrow Pugetensis, singing, adults and immatures
Western Meadowlark About a dozen in the east meadow - some SINGING!
