Northwest birders and native plant enthusiasts,

The Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society's Annual
Fitzner-Eberhardt Arid Lands Ecology Reserve field trip is Saturday, MAY
1, 1999.

Visit Rattlesnake Springs, Snively Springs & the summit of
Rattlesnake Mountain!

Discover uncommon & rare shrub-steppe plants & birds!

We've averaged 60+ bird species the past three years and found
Gray-crowned Rosy Finch three of the past four years. Last years's birds
included Golden Eagle and Calliope Hummingbird, five warbler species and
nine sparrow species.

This field trip is limited to 24 participants. Transportation
will be in rented vans & a rented portable toilets will be available on
site. Participants are responsible for their own food and water for the
day as nothing is available on site and are reminded that spring weather
in the Columbia Basin can be very changeable and that the winds at the
summit of Rattlesnake Mt. can blow very hard anytime. Participants are
further reminded that this is a moderately strenuous event which requires
a certain degree of physical agility in order to achieve the maximum
potential satisfaction of participation. Insect repellent containing
"Deet" is highly recommended for tick avoidance.

Cost will be $18. per person payable by check made out to "LCBAS"
and delivered by hand or mail to:
Dennis K. Rockwell, 213316 E. Finley Rd., Kennewick, WA
99337-7480, (509)582-5718
Your check deposited in the account of LCBAS guarantees your seat on a
van. The first 24 people sending money get seats. There are currently
three (3) seats left unpurchased. This fee is nonrefundable except in
the case of trip cancellation by LCBAS or unavailability of seats.

We will meet at 6 am in the north parking lot of the Federal
Building in Richland and return between 5 & 6 pm that afternoon.
