Meant to post this yesterday just in case anyone is interested. I went to
pick Ann van der Geld up in Kenmore Tuesday and in the small stream near
her apartment there were four Wood Duck drakes, one hen, one Mallard drake
and hen, and one Mandarin Duck drake! There was much waddling around and
it turns out that the Mandarin seems to have the edge as far as the female
Wood Duck is concerned. They put on quite a show.

The ducks are in a tiny stream that is about 50 feet in from 61st Avenue.
I realize the Mandarin is probably an escape, but the ducks are very close
and photographable (although shady) should anyone want a photo. Ann says
they are still there tonight (Thursday). If anyone is interested, give her
a call at 425-483-2874 for directions.
