Subject: Black Duck report for ID and question

tweeters,

I located an American Black Duck in Lewiston, ID last Saturday and
relocated the bird this morning (4/2). I managed to flush it
(unintentionally) from the levee pond along the Clearwater R. across the
river to near the Snake R./Clearwater R. confluence, a spot within probably
a hundred yards or so of the Washington border. So this may be of general
interest to Washington birders. Apparentley this would (if accepted by the
IRBC) be the 5th Idaho State record and I would like to know if there is
any pattern to other sightings of this species in the northwest. This seems
like a reasonable time for an occurrence as there are many ducks moving
through at this time. The bird appeared to be wild and was associating with
other presumably wild ducks - Mallard, A. Wigeon, etc.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks, Charles.
