I tried to enjoy the sunshine today at Discovery Park in Seattle, but the weather got steadily worse while I was there.
Nonetheless, the visit was quite worthwhile.

The most notable sighting was a pod of 5-7 Orcas off the point from the lighthouse. Several of us got to watch them over a period
of about 20 minutes. Finally, they slowly made their way north. One had a very large dorsal fin, but some had notably small fins.
I suspect it was a group with several young whales.

On to the birds:

Sanderling About 15 south of the lighthouse
Brant 17 on a small spit on the Shilshole side of the lighthouse
Bonaparte's Gull Only 1, near the Brant, with lots of Mew and GWGU
White-winged Scoter N. of lighthouse, with Surf Scoter
Common Loon 1, alternate plumage, Near the Brant
Barrow's Goldeneye 4 with Common Goldeneye, near the Brant
Rufous Hummingbird Males guarding each clump of blooming Salmonberry
Bald Eagle Adult soaring. Beautiful sight with the Olympics in the background

I also had a bunny, rather wild looking but very very tame, come up and sniff my boots, repeatedly circle my feet, and willingly
submit to pats and tickles. Quite strange, but cute.
