Hi,

When I first moved to Bothell, I was really surprised at how often I
saw the local Pileateds. I hear them every couple of days, and I see
them from my yard about once a week. I also see them on a regular
basis while going down Locust Way/61st Ave N.E. going down into
Kenmore.

The surprising part of all this is that there really isn't a lot in the
way of big trees and dead trees around here which (among other things)
they seem to prefer. There is a lot of new houses going up too. Makes
me wonder how much longer they will be a part of the fauna of this
area...
