Subject: hovercraft at Marymoor

I saw three species hover-hunting during a breezy afternoon today at
Marymoor: first a female kestrel, then a northern shrike, and finally a
female harrier, all in the space of about an hour. The kestrel and shrike
were near the model airplane field, while the harrier (may have been two)
was all over the park; I saw her hovering in the east meadow. I also had a
brief peek at a short-eared owl in the east meadow.

There was also a nice variety of waterfowl, including bufflehead, common
goldeneye, gadwall, gw teal, ring-necked duck, lesser scaup, common and
hooded mergansers.

And finally, (and finally!) I saw my first western meadowlark(s) after
looking all winter.
