My observations on bluebirds seem to agree with Andy.I headed over Snoqualmie
Pass yesterday, primarily to look at plants, but I saw only one female
mountain bluebird all day. I attributed this to pretty poor weather (some
light rain, one snow shower near Cle Elum, and low temperatures...), but I
didn't see any at their usual spots on Elk Heights and none on Bettas Rd.
near Rte. 97. In fact, I thought bird numbers in general were low, perhaps a
generally late spring! I didn't see or hear Savannah or Vesper Sparrows
either. Cowiche Canyon, where I hiked, was very quiet except for a
Townsend's Solitaire and a pair of Downies in one aspen grove and a few
Magpies, Song Sparrows, RC Kinglets, Robins, and one Fox Sparrow along the
trail.
