It felt like February, not April. Brrr.

Mike West and I went out anyway, at our NEW SUMMER START TIME OF 7:00 AM, just
in case any one else wants to join us ever. After years of starting at 7:30,
we've made the switch, at least during daylight savings time.

The highlights were as follows:

Bald Eagle Adult on nest, Imm. cruising slough
Red-tailed Hawk Pair at nest west of Lake Samm Pkwy
American Kestrel Male hunting NE of grass soccer fields,
another male(?) in tree N of
grass soccer fields.
Definitely two birds.
Rufous Hummingbird At least two males, one at the Rowing Club
Tree Swallow A dozen or so over the slough
Violet-green Swallow A dozen or so N. of the weir. Not there at
7:00.
Bushtit Several pairs, one building a
nest on the slough-side of the trail
Yellow-rumped Warbler Aud. and Myrt, mostly or all males, all over,
singing
Savannah Sparrow Pleantiful and colorful in east meadow
Fox Sparrow Outnumbered Song Sparrows
Brown-headed Cowbird Around 3 males. Still no females.

We also had a beaver swimming down the slough between the beaver lodge and the
rowing club.

44 species in 3 hours.
