Sightings for Thursday, April 8

The Cassin's Auklet was located again today in Burrard Inlet in the bay
East of Canada Place. The bird often travels up to 100 feet underwater
when diving and can therefore be difficult to relocate. The male Tufted
Duck was again near the Stone Bridge in Stanley Park.

In a late report for Wednesday, the spring arrival Cliff Swallow and two
male Ring-necked Ducks was on the outer ponds at Iona. A Rough-legged Hawk
was also at Iona.

Sightings for Wednesday, April 7

The Cassin's Auklet was again present close to shore just east of Canada
Place, in the late afternoon. The male Tufted Duck was in Lost Lagoon
halfway between the Stanley Park Causeway and the Stone Bridge. The first
Barn Swallows of spring, 4 or 5 birds, were over the ponds at Jericho Park.

Sightings for Tuesday, April 6

The Cassin's Auklet was in Burrard Inlet. It was seen once off Brockton
Point, Stanley Park but was usually seen between Canada Place and the
Helijet pad. For some observers, the bird has been quite elusive, diving
frequently and staying underwater for long periods. The male Tufted Duck
was present for the 2nd day, at the West End of Lost Lagoon, near the Stone
Bridge. The Rock Sandpiper was at Ferguson Point. A Barred Owl was in
Mundy Park, Coquitlam.
