Of course, I was kidding. Don's photo is great. Granted, the same
image had it been with a wood duck or a harlequin would be even more
unique, but that is asking a lot even from a guy with a Bazillion mm
f/1.7 lens.

In reality, I prefer photos like Don's mallard. The "portrait" photos
we often see, while good, remind me a bit too much of Aunt Sally and
Uncle Harry possing stiffly for the camera at a family gathering. They
are OK for bird guide books (the bird photos not my relatives), but I
like the action photos better since they tell us more about the bird.
