This morning (16 April), it's pretty evident a huge flight of Gambel's
White-crowned Sparrows arrived here in Wapato. Going out the door first,
thing, their gentle lispings were everywhere; I haven't noticed this
intensity of calling so far this spring.

Can we call on resident Tweeters meteorologist Jack Bowling to help explain
what triggered this influx. My take on the en masse arrival is the High
pressure cell, which was off the coast (?), now might have edged eastward,
placing the interior of the Pacific Northwest into a southwesterly flow.
This might signal lots of migrants that it was time to move.

Gorgeous here this morning, I predict it'll be pushing 80 F this afternoon!
