Saturday, April 17, I received a call this morning from Patrick
Sullivan, who had spotted 15 BLACK-NECKED STILTS at the Steigerwald
Refuge, these birds were visible from Milepost 18.9 on Highway 14, east
of Washougal, Clark County. Since I did not have these on my county list
I hurried down to the refuge and relocated them. Also on the refuge I
found 2 YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS, and once again saw the 18 ROSS' GEESE.
The geese have been in the field west of the barns along the Columbia
River dike for the last two days. This morning they were within 100 feet
of the walking path on top of the dike and paid little attention to the
people using the dike. Great views with the sun shining directly on the
birds. Thanks Patrick for an addition to my Clark County list.
