The TUFTED DUCK has left the county (unless somebody knows
different.)

This week's estuary arrivals include singing WILSON'S WARBLERS and
a BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER at the Neawanna Wetland in Seaside.
NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS were working the main channel of
the river in the same area. Three MARBLED GODWITS flew over the
area on Sunday.

A phenomenal number of RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS were mist-netted at
the Neawanna Banding Station. Males were actively displaying for
females in what could almost be described as lekking behavior.
Among those captured was a male Rufous with a nearly complete
green upper back and green flecking on the lower back to the
coverts (about a 2.0 on the greeness scale.)

A thoroughly dis assembled BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS was on Clatsop
Beach along with a dead alternate plumage RHINOCEROS AUKLET and a
SURF SCOTER. There was also a small "eared" seal most likely
NORTHERN FUR SEAL was dead on the beach.

Shorebirds are starting to move again. A grand total of 70 SANDERLINGS
were on Clatsop Beach Saturday. By the same time Sunday there were
1180 and no other species.
