On afternoon of Apr. 18, while looking at over 60 American White Penguins on
the south pond, with a number of them flying out and then back, at about
milepost 30 1/2 on SR 26 west of Othello, at least 80 Avocets were seen on
the north pond. Also present on the north pond were several Black-necked
Stilts, Redheads, Green-winged Teals, and a lone Pintail. Also observed that
morning at Turnbull NWR were more birds than I had seen there before,
including a Bittern, Redheads, Canvasbacks, Ruddy Ducks, Wood Ducks, a banded
Tundra Swan, and a Yellow-headed Blackbird. Ed Level, Everett, WA.
