Surveyed East Bay, Olympia, on Sunday 18 April. A Common Loon that showed up
during the previous week was still present--this is the 7th straight winter
that one (or two) has shown up in April. Most Horned Grebes have moved well
into alternate plumage. Barrow's Goldeneyes are gone but Commons are still
around. Bufflehead numbers have been up the past couple of weeks, at least,
but they'll soon disappear. Lots of successful fishing by the various
waterbirds. Greater Yellowlegs are sure looking sharp. Two Barn Swallows
flew over and I flushed a Common Snipe from "the pond".

Two Caspian Terns over Capitol Lake on 19 April.
