(Sorry, Eugene brought up cats and I had to share)

I was actually asked the other day (by someone concerned because the
cat had disappeared) if owls and hawks would actually eat meat. I
was almost stunned speechless because it never occured to me that
a person wouldn't know that. Somehow I maintained my composure and
explained that not only do they eat such food, but Great Horned
Owls (which live behind our houses) are known to take possums and
raccoons, and that even the red-tailed hawks back there are big
enough to take her kitten. I have a suspicion that her next cat will
stay indoors.
