For those keeping track of where/when migrants leave/arrive, Fox sparrow
('sooty' morph) seen again at edge of forest near my condo complex on the
east side of Seahurst Park. Last seen about 2 weeks ago, I assumed our
local wintering birds had departed; this one seen today must be a just-
passing-through bird. Also, the behavior of a pair of Chestnut-backed
chickadees suggests that this species may be nesting quite close to my
building in the mixed conifer areas (but I have seen this species nesting
in a large Big leaf maple a couple of years ago prior to the half-
destruction (called an 'improvement' by the local bureaucracy) of the
small woodland at Des Moines Creek Beach Park.
