A note for those of you perhaps interested in a bird festival.

Osprey Celebration, sponsored by East Lake Washington Audubon Society, will
be held Saturday, May 8th, at Juanita Bay Park in Kirkland, Washington.
ELWAS installed an Osprey nest platform in the bay about a year and a half
ago. No nesters yet, but we are hoping!

The second annual festival will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Featured will
be display booths and activities sponsored by many environmental
organizations from around Puget Sound. There will also be mini-workshops,
(including a hands-on one on aquatic insects) and storytelling for all ages.
Samples of shade-grown coffee will be served. At noon, there will be a short
dedication ceremony for a new interpretive sign about Ospreys, with special
guest speaker Brian Derdowski. This will be a great event for families and
give everyone a chance to learn more about Ospreys, wildlife and wetlands
and have a good time doing it!

For more information, call the ELWAS line at 425-451-3713.
