The Seattle PI had a similarly slanted piece based on an
interview with a Battelle oceanographer a few days ago.
His theme was that important pollutants declined beginning
in the 60s before the big suite of 70s environmental legislation
was passed, implanting the thought that industry began
cleaning up its act before regulations were passed, leading
to what? The conclusion that we can get rid of these
regulations because they're unnecessary?
Of course, he didn't have all his facts straight (the notion
that automobiles with catalytic converters were introduced
enthusiastically by the auto industry rather than because California
required them is womewhat bizarre), other than that it was
a great piece :)
