Hello Tweets,

My mother and I birded half a day in Thurston and Grays Harbor Cos.,
despite the costant wind, but fair skies at several locations as well as
observing several DRAGONFLIES at the Lacey clearcut and the Shouweiler Rd.
Wetland ,west of Elma. We encountered 11 species of shorebirds, with the
best highlights that included: 3 breeding-plumaged AM.GOLDEN PLOVERS with
42 b.p.B.B.PLOVERS and 16 S.B.DOWITCHERS along Brady Loop Rd. in plowed
fields. There were also 8 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 28 W.SANDPIPERS, one
DUNLIN, 2 GR.YELLOWLEGS, and 7 GR.W.F.GEESE that were also present in the
fields, where remaining water was present. The other shorebird highlight
was 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS at the Black Lake Meadows near Olympia with 3
GR.YELLOWLEGS. Both yellowlegs were feeding side by side for excellent
comparisons, which the LESSER being a new species for our Black Lake
Meadows list. There were also 20 C.SNIPES, 8 L.SANDPIPERS, and 1
W.SANDPIPER present, as the water levels continue to go down. Earlier in
the day, at the Lacey Clearcut, our first stop, we encountered 12+ CHIPPING
SPARROWS along with a few ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, and one female PURPLE
MARTIN overhead. only 4 TURKEY VULTURES were encountered between Elma and
Satsop, with an OSPREY pair, 2 LINCOLN'S SPARROWS, and several calling
V.RAILS at the Shouweiler Wetland, and N.ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS were
encountered in several of our stops, mainly around water or marshes.

Good Birding,

Ruth and Patrick Sullivan
