I think the 8x30 size binocs are great, they offer a view nearly
indistiguishable from the full sized models at significantly less weight . I
would suggest looking at the Leica 8x30's. They run a bit more than the
Zeiss, but have a better reputation for durability. I also like the way they
feel in my hands, an important and often under-appreciated feature of
binoculars. I have had mine for 4 years now and have never looked back.
