Subject: Ballard marbled murrelets/Thanks for the bino info

Tuesday evening from the public access beach (6321 SeaView Ave) at Shilshole
Bay, Kris Baker pointed out a small flock of six murrelets; we had marginal
observations due to the backlight, but had 30 minutes with the scope and
clear vocalizations on one pair to confirm the marbled murrelet ID. The pair
had been feeding in the main channel for most of half an hour, and later
they were joined by another four murrelets. They were fairly close to the
pilings that line the channel.

Thanks for all the suggestions on bins, I'll certainly be taking a look at a
few non-Zeiss brands, and of course will try before I buy. My $99 pair is
falling apart after a mere 20 years of use, so I figured I can move up a
step in quality and durability, and relegate the old pair to the glove box.
